Duncan makes wacky shot on epic night
LeBron James ... Blake Griffin ... DeAndre Jordan ... move over and let a 36-year-old show you how it's done.
OK, so maybe it's not a massive, high-flying circus-style dunk ... but it's entertaining none-the-less.
On a night when Spurs forward Tim Duncan decided to turn the clock back a decade, he found himself on the scoring end of a very entertaining play.
Midway through the third quarter Thursday night against the Dallas Mavericks, Duncan was thrown a lob pass by Spurs center Tiago Splitter from the top of the key.
Sure, it was the kind of pass that James or Griffin would have flushed down with a two-handed dunk ... but that is not the way of the crafty veteran Duncan.
Duncan went up with his left hand and tried to control the ball to tip it back to himself. But instead, the basket got in the way.
It was a silly enough play that Duncan couldn't help but laugh at himself as he ran back down the court.
Duncan had a massive night in the Spurs' 92-91 win over their rival Dallas, scoring 28 points and pulling in 19 rebounds. It was his 26th double-double of the season and 757th of his career, which is the highest amongst all active players.
Duncan was one rebound shy of the 22nd 20-20 game of his career.
The win improved the Spurs' record to 50-16, keeping them in first place in the Western Conference, 1.5 games ahead of Oklahoma City.
