ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced Monday that the club has acquired defenseman Sebastian Erixon from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for right wing Andrew Gordon.

Erixon, 22 (9/12/89), appeared in 30 contests for the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, scoring 1-7=8 points with 10 penalty minutes (PIM). A native of Sundsvall, Sweden, Erixon scored his first goal on Dec. 10 vs. Milwaukee in a 4-2 Wolves win. He also strung together points in three straight games from Dec. 9-11 (1-2=3), helping the Wolves to a current fourth-place ranking in the AHL’s Western Conference (30-20-2-3, 65 points).

The 5-10, 183-pound blueliner played three full seasons (2008-11) and portions of two seasons (2006-08) with Timra IK of the Swedish Elite League, earning 12-22=34 points in 167 career games. Signed as a free agent by Vancouver on Apr. 20, 2011, Erixon has competed on the international level twice with his native Sweden. He appeared alongside Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman (2009 second overall pick) and Ottawa’s Erik Karlsson (2008 15th overall pick) on the silver-medal winning squad at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship (0-2=2, +5 in six games). In addition, Erixon appeared with Team Sweden at the 2007 Under-18 World Championship (bronze medal).

Gordon, 26 (12/13/85), scored 2-3=5 points with six PIM in 37 games with the Ducks this season. Signed by Anaheim as a free agent on July 2, 2011, Gordon also played in 19 contests with Syracuse (AHL) in 2011-12, scoring 3-5=8 points with 10 PIM. Selected by Washington in the seventh round (197th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Gordon has scored 3-4=7 points in 49 career NHL games.
