Don't forget the defenses

PHOENIX - When Oregon opened its practice to the media Tuesday, the offense lined up on one side of the 50-yard line and the defense took the other. Guess which got the photo op.
"I hope our players weren't watching, because every camera was on the offensive side," longtime Oregon defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti said in a light moment.
Of course, what else is new?
With Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Cam Newton of Auburn on one side of the BCS national championship game and the Heisman runner-up, running back LaMichael James, on the other, the offenses have dominated the conversation since the pairing was announced Dec. 6.
Not to worry.
Neither defense is taking it personally, and neither needs the spotlight to perform at a high level.
