Last week, a photo began to circulate of a jersey sporting what many believed to be the new Dolphins logo.
On Wednesday, after NFL.com accidentally posted the same logo on a draft feature they were running, the Dolphins, who had originally planned to unveil the logo on April 18 (and subsequently changed to April 25), decided they might as well just go with it since the cat was out of the bag.
"It was leaked by somebody at Nike," Dolphins CEO Mike Dee said following a press conference discussing the team's stadium renovation plans. "We had always had a plan to kind of roll it out over a 30-day period, so we're going to start rolling it out. But the logo is only one part of the announcement. It's a complete rebranding of the team.
"There's a lot of other elements to the announcement on draft night than just the logo. But now that the logo is out there, we're going to have some fun with it. Players are excited to adorn the new clothing. You'll see it around here over the next 30 days leading to the big announcement on April 25th."
Dolphins defensive tackle Jared Odrick wore a T-shirt sporting the new logo on a visit to Baptist Children's Hospital with his teammates.

The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero says that among the team's uniform changes will be a white face mask. It would be the first time the Dolphins sport a white face mask in team history. (They've had gray and, more recently, aqua.).
The Dolphins logo has remained much the same since the team's inception in 1966. In 1974, the Dolphin was repositioned in front of the sunburst, while in 1997 it underwent a revision, though it kept the general design of the jumping Dolphin wearing a helmet.
