Dodgers re-sign Juan Uribe for two years, $15 million

It looks like Juan Uribe is returning to the Dodgers. The free-agent third baseman, who was seeking a three-year deal on the open market, agreed to a two-year, $15-million contract Saturday, according to MLB.com, citing sources. Uribe's return fills a significant gap in the infield for the Dodgers, who would have had to consider moving Hanley Ramirez from shortstop to third base. Now they have their infield set, with Adrian Gonzalez at first, Cuban defector Alexander Guerrero at second, Ramirez at short and Uribe at third. Uribe, who turns 35 in March, hit .278 with 12 home runs last season after his first two years with the Dodgers were essentially a bust. After signing a three-year deal for $21 million in 2011, Uribe hit .204 and .191 and played in a combined 143 games. But he hit stride last season and delivered two postseason home runs, including a two-run homer against the Atlanta Braves that helped the Dodgers clinch their National League division series.
