Do 5-Stars really matter in recruiting rankings? The Scout.com team took a look over the last five years and tallied up the total number of 5-star recruits per team. The top five won't shock anyone.
Alabama (21 5-stars), Florida State (19), Texas (15), USC (14) and Auburn (11).
The last five teams to win a national title? Yep, you guessed it. Florida State (2013), Alabama (2012, 2011 and 2009) and Auburn (2010). Texas was the runner up in 2009 and USC has spent the past few years under heavy sanctions and still had two 10-win seasons. And that's with Lane Kiffin as your head coach. Lane. Kiffin.

So yeah! It's safe to say that landing a Scout.com 5-star ... or ten ... does matter and appears to translate into National Titles.
