COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Defending Division I champion DeSoto handled a rematch of last years quarterfinal game with precision as the Eagles advanced to Saturday's championship round of the FOX Sports Southwest 7-on-7 State Championships presented by adidas.
Friday's first pool play game saw DeSoto take on the same Westwood team they faced in the 2011 quarterfinals with Desoto winning 39-33.
Their most recent matchup was led by a new quarterback for DeSoto as Desmond White took the snaps leading his team to a 25-21 win to begin the day.
After the Eagles handed Cooper a 40-26 defeat they had their hands full with Cy Fair who took DeSoto to the last possessions.
Cy Fair took the victory 40-39 leaving the Eagles with a 2-1 record in their pool finishing second to Cypress Fairbanks' 3-0 record.
Cypress Fairbanks was one of 11 undefeated teams on day one that advanced to Saturday's championship round with play beginning at 9 a.m. at Texas A&M's Penberthy fields.
The Division I consolation championship game and state title game will be played at A&M's Kyle Field at 3 and 4 p.m. respectively.
