Detroit loses to Valparaiso 82-74
VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) -- Cory Johnson scored 19 points to lead Valparaiso to an 82-74 victory over Detroit on Thursday night.
The Crusaders (18-7, 10-3 Horizon) trailed most of the first half but went ahead when Brandon Wood hit a 3-pointer about four minutes before halftime.
Wood finished with 17 points while Ryan Broekhoff added another 17 for Valparaiso.
The Titans (14-13, 8-7) tied it midway through the second half when Donavan Foster made a 3-pointer after a turnover by the Crusaders' Jay Harris.
Harris redeemed himself moments later by making a 3 that put Valparaiso ahead for good. The Crusaders led by as many as 10 points after that.
Chase Simon scored a game-high 22 points for the Titans while Ray McCallum added 15 and Eli Holman 14.
