New coach Brady Hoke has only been on the job two weeks and still has a long way to go to live up to a typical Michigan recruiting class.

But the Wolverines are clearly on the move in Scout.com's latest national rankings.

Michigan, with 16 oral commitments, is up to No. 32, fifth in the Big Ten, as of Wednesday morning. U-M recently surged past Penn State (No. 34) and Wisconsin (No. 36).

Not only did the Wolverines receive commitments Tuesday from four-star linebacker Anthony Poole (Cincinnati) and three-star quarterback Russell Bellomy (Arlington, Tex.), they also got confirmation from four-star cornerback Blake Countess (Olney, Md.) that he plans to stay committed.

Countess had reopened his recruiting, including an official visit to Penn State, after the coaching change at Michigan.

But, according to Scout.com, he still plans to sign an official letter of intent with the Wolverines next Wednesday, the first day of the national signing period.

The four Big Ten teams with recruiting classes ranked ahead of Michigan at this point are Ohio State (No. 3), Nebraska  (24), Michigan State (26) and Iowa (28).
