Derek Jeter feels hype around Mike Trout is deserved
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Don't associate hype with Mike Trout if you're around Derek Jeter.
The Yankees captain doesn't feel there's any hype around the Angels centerfielder, whatsoever.
Trout's affinity for Jeter has been well documented. The two-time American League MVP runner up grew up a huge fan of Jeter.
The two had the opportunity to talk at the MLB All Star game in Kansas City two seasons ago. At that point, Trout told Jeter how much he admired him.
"It makes you feel good as a player when you have guys that come up and appreciate how you've played the game," Jeter said. "He has a very, very bright future. He has a bright present, too. He can beat you in any way imaginable on the field. Angel fans are going to enjoy watching him for years to come."
Trout recently signed a six-year extension that will keep him in an Angels uniform until 2021.

He's been an all star in each of his first two full seasons in the Majors. He was named the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and last season was a Silver Slugger Award winner for the second time.
Trout has said Jeter is the player he's always aspired to be "on and off the field."
Off of it, his bright smile and clean image have him on par. On it, his skills far outweigh those of The Captain. So much, Jeter has a hard time deciding on what impresses him the most about the 22 year old.
"I donât know if you can pick one thing," Jeter said. "It just seems like he has a desire to keep improving. He doesn't play the game like he knows he has it made. He plays hard. He runs every ball out which, when you've had the success that heâs had over a couple of years, you like to see that. You like to see guys that continue to play the game the right way."
