COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou senior guard Marcus Denmon (Kansas City, Mo.), on the heels of one of the greatest individual performances in school history on Saturday, was named Big 12 Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday (Feb. 6). This marks the third career Big 12 weekly honor for Denmon after he earned the award twice last season.

Denmon averaged 17.5 total points and 7.0 rebounds per game last week, but it was his performance against No. 8 Kansas on Saturday that helped him earn his third career Big 12 Player of the Week honor. The senior guard exploded for 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including a blistering 6-of-9 mark from distance. He scored nine consecutive points (a three-point play and two 3-pointers) in a span of 1:12 to bring the Tigers from down eight points to up one with just under a minute remaining as he sparked an 11-0 run by the Tigers to close the game, sealing the win for Mizzou.

The 29-point outing was his second-best career total and the 24th time that he has scored at least 20 points in his career. His performance on Saturday was even more remarkable considering he had been in somewhat of a shooting slump, connecting on just five of his previous 31 3-point attempts.
