DeMarcus Ware saving his legs during training camp

Going into his ninth NFL season, DeMarcus Ware is doing anything he can to make sure he stays healthy during training camp, even if that means not walking, unless he absolutely has to.

Ware has been spotted zipping around the Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, Calif. this summer on a Segway, the same two-wheeled device that are used by mall cops around the nation. He takes it from his hotel room to the locker room and even to the meeting rooms, pretty much the only time the linebacker uses his legs is when he is practicing on the field.

"When it's off time, it's off time," Ware told ESPN. "I'm kicking my feet back up on the Segway and getting to where I need to go and not walking."

Ware isn't the first NFL player to use a Segway to get around and preserve his legs, Houston Texans running back Arian Foster has been to known to use one as well. Foster even purchased one for each of the offensive linemen on the Texans as a Christmas gift last December, but Ware doesn't have any plans to share his wheels with his teammates, you know, because of 'safety concerns.'

"You've got to take a little class," Ware said, laughing. "I don't want anybody to get hurt... It goes fast, I like cruising. It's on 'turtle' right now. At home, I'll have it on 'rabbit' and it goes fast. Right now I just need to cruise where I need to go."
