Decker engaged to country music singer
Choosing between playing professional football and professional baseball might have been a difficult decision for Eric Decker, but choosing Mrs. Right apparently wasn't so tough.
The former Minnesota Gophers wide receiver popped the question to his girlfriend Jessica "Jessie" James and she said yes, the country music singer confirmed Sunday via Twitter.
Decker, Minnesota's all-time leading receiver, caught 228 passes for 3,119 yards and 24 touchdowns during his four years on campus.
A multi-sport star at Minnesota, Decker also played the outfield for the Gophers baseball team and was drafted twice, once in 2008 by the Milwaukee Brewers and again in 2009 by the Minnesota Twins.
However, Decker chose to professional football and was picked in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. In two seasons with the Broncos, Decker has 50 receptions for 718 yards and nine touchdowns.
Prior to starring for the Gophers, the Cold Spring, Minn., native was a three-sport star for Rocori High School. He was his football team's MVP twice during a prep career that saw him rack up 2,156 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns.
The Italian-born James, 23, released her second album in late-January. Her self-titled, debut album was released in 2009 and peaked at number 23 on the Billboard 200.
It was recently announced that James will play at the University of Minnesota's Spring Jam at noon on Friday, April 20.
