David Blatt gets philosophical with FOX Sports Ohio's Sam Amico after off night for Cavs

After their best game of the season Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks, the Cleveland Cavaliers were not so stellar in their loss to the Denver Nuggets Tuesday night.

Everyone from Kevin Love to Kyrie Irving to head coach David Blatt accepted responsibility for the lackluster showing against a Nuggets team that came into Cleveland 2-7.

In his postgame press conference, Blatt said he knew this particular game would be a dangerous one. FOX Sports Ohio's Sam Amico asked why -- and Blatt provided more than just basketball insight.

Here's his response:

When you see a situation when you're just great and there's seemingly no reason for it -- like after the Boston game to come back and play the kind of game that we played against Atlanta, which was just a fabulous game - and then to recognize that you cannot afford even for a moment to let up from that kind of approach and that kind of mentality -- and if you do, then you pay a price, because that's what life teaches you, Sam. You know what I mean?

That's what life teaches you -- and basketball too. It never lets you out of the bag. You've gotta be the same guy and you've gotta be the same team every day. If not, you'll pay a price.

The Cavs were far from the same team Monday as they were Saturday. In knocking off the Hawks, the Cavs shot 54 percent from the field and made 19 of 31 three-point attempts to put up 127 points. In stark contrast, the Cavs didn't hit the century mark Monday, making 43 percent of their shots overall and just more than a third of their shots from downtown.

Next on the docket is a major test, as the defending champion San Antonio Spurs come to Cleveland. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on FOX Sports Ohio.
