Darvish faces injury concerns
ARLINGTON, Texas — Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish experienced tightness in his right quadriceps during a pregame bullpen session Tuesday, casting some doubt on his next start.
"It's no issue," Rangers manager Ron Washington said after Tuesday's game, a 5-3 loss to the Orioles. "He'll get out there tomorrow and work and then we'll see where it is. But it's not an issue."
Darvish (12-9, 4.51) is scheduled to pitch Thursday against Minnesota.
Darvish threw 40 pitches during bullpen session, but observers noticed his right leg seemed to be bothering him.
Darvish did not do his usual running after his throwing session, then skipped a scheduled session with the Japanese media to receive treatment on the leg.
Washington said it's too soon to speculate how the injury will affect Darvish's availability for Thursday.
"We've just got to wait until tomorrow and see how he comes through it," Washington said.
