Darlington Raceway has been the scene for some of the worst wrecks in NASCAR history, proving even the best drivers must respect the "Lady In Black."
Darlington's nickname and her reputation for danger began to spread after a series of fatalities in the late 1950s and early 1960s, but NASCAR quickly pushed to distance the track from any negative connotations.
The birth of "Too Tough To Tame" came in the late 1960s, and lives on to this day.
