DALLAS (AP) -- Justin Wall drove in a career-best six runs and Cory Taylor pitched a complete game to lead Dallas Baptist past Texas 8-1 and keep the Patriots' season alive for at least a few more hours in an NCAA regional elimination game Sunday.

Dallas Baptist (44-14), the No. 1 seed in the Dallas Regional, will face the loser of the VCU-Oregon State game Sunday night. Texas (30-27), which advanced to the College World Series last season, is eliminated after losing its first two games.

Taylor (7-1), pitching in his home ballpark but in front of a mostly pro-Texas crowd, allowed one run on three hits and struck out a season-best nine in his first career complete game.

The Patriots opened the scoring with four runs in the third, capped by a three-run home run by Wall just over the right-field fence off Texas starter Ty Culbreth (4-5). Wall also drove in runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings as Dallas Baptist cruised to victory.
