Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice for September 28
Editor's note: With fantasy football content ramping up, we will only publish three fantasy baseball DFS posts a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (which will include some weekend picks, too).
Thank you for understanding and I hope you continue to enjoy our content.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming...
Must-Start of the day: Cole Hamels, TEX
Hamels is nearly $1,000 cheaper than Jake Arrieta, and he has a better matchup at home against the Brewers and Chase Anderson. Hamels is also striking out batters at a higher clip than Arrieta over his last ten games and should have plenty of run support coming his way.
Deal of the day: Seth Lugo, NYM
At just $5400 with a matchup against the Marlins and tomato can Jose Urena, Lugo and his 2.61 ERA and 1.06 WHIP this year represents great value. He may not go very deep into the game, but he's scored over 20 DK points in two of his last four starts.
Avoid of the day: Carlos Gonzalez, COL
He's just 4-for-23 lifetime against Jeff Samardzija and is playing outside of Coors Field.
Stack of the day: Washington Nationals
The Nats are at home against Shelby Miller, who owns a 6.47 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and .311 BAA this season in a large sample size of 96 innings. He's a disaster, and we'll target him on Wednesday.
Starting pitchers:
Cole Hamels, TEX: "Must-start of the day"
Seth Lugo, NYM: "Deal of the day"
Jose De Leon, LAD: He's flashed some big potential in his first few starts, and last time he faced the Padres he struck out 9 batters. In a pitcher's park against a bad lineup, he should be in line for a win.
Catchers:
Yasmani Grandal, LAD: .909 OPS over his last ten games and gets Pedromo.
Tyler Flowers, ATL: Hitting .297 over his last ten games.
First basemen:
Edwin Encarnacion, TOR: He's 17-for-56 with 3 HR lifetime against Chris Tillman.
Victor Martinez, DET: He's 11-for-24 lifetime against Zach McAllister.
Second basemen:
Trea Turner, WAS: Batting leadoff and brings speed and a .911 OPS to the table for our Nats stack.
Ian Kinsler, DET: 1.097 OPS over his last ten games and has a good matchup to boot.
Third basemen:
Anthony Rendon, WAS: Batting third in our Nationals stack.
Kyle Seager, SEA: 7-for-19 against Doug Fister.
Shortstops:
Ryan Goins, TOR: 9-for-25 lifetime against Chris Tillman.
Manny Machado, BAL: Way too cheap at just $3800 against a lefty.
Outfielders:
Nelson Cruz, SEA: He's 11-for-32 lifetime against Doug Fister.
Jayson Werth, WAS: Nationals stack.
Mookie Betts, BOS: Hitting .417 over his last ten games.
