D-backs trim roster by 9, send Oscar Hernandez to minors

PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks reduced their spring training roster to 59 by farming out nine players to the minor leagues.

Catcher Oscar Hernandez, who spent the 2015 season on the major-league roster after being selected in the Rule 5 Draft, was optioned to High-A Visalia of the California League, and reliever Dominic Leone was optioned to Triple-A Reno.

Seven others, all non-roster invitees, were reassigned to minor-league camp: Pitchers Matt Buschmann, Jose Cisnero, Miller Diaz, Will Locante, Adam Miller and Matt Stites and catcher Ronnie Freeman.
