PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks claimed oft-injured outfielder Nolan Reimold off waivers from Toronto on Thursday.
Reimold had 15 home runs as a rookie with Baltimore in 2009 and had 13 in 2011, but he missed the majority of the 2012 and 2013 seasons after undergoing two surgeries to repair a herniated disk in his neck.
Reimold, 30, hit .195 with five homers and 12 RBI with Baltimore last season before being designated for assignment this July 1 after finishing rehab in the minor leagues. He was claimed by Toronto five days later.
Reimold had two homers and nine RBI in 22 games with the Blue Jays, hitting both of the homers against Houston on July 31 after returning from a stint on the disabled list because of a left calf strain.
A right-handed hitter, Reimold is hitting .250 with 43 homers and 135 RBI in 308 games. His first career homer came against Mariano Rivera on May 20, 2009. He was the Orioles' second-round draft pick in 2005 out of Bowling Green.
The D-backs plan to announce a corresponding move to clear space on the 25-man roster before Friday's game. Their 40-man roster is at 40.
Reimold is the second outfielder the D-backs have claimed off waivers in the last three weeks, following the acquisition of Xavier Paul on Aug. 7.
