Cuban matches fine with $75k charity donation
Mark Cuban's recent comments criticizing NBA officials this week will end up being good news for one very lucky charity.
The Mavericks owner, who was fined $75,000 for comments made after Wednesday night's close loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, announced he would be matching the fine with a donation to the 1 Million 4 Anna Foundation.
"To match my NBA Fine , I'm donating $75k to 1 Million 4 Anna Foundation. A great cause," Cuban posted on his Twitter account Saturday.
The foundation supports the fight against Ewing's Sarcoma and was set up to honor the memory of Anna Basso. Basso, who was an avid fan of the Mavericks, passed away from the disease in June at the age of 18.
"Due to Mark Cuban's overwhelming generosity, we are able to make a $75,000 difference in the lives of those fighting Ewing's Sarcoma," Hailey Drescher posted in a statement on the foundation's website, 1million4anna.com. "As many of you know, Anna was the Dallas Mavericks' biggest fan. It seems perfect that her foundation truly begins with Mark Cuban's help."
