Coyotes trade Montoya to Islanders

GLENDALE -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced Wednesday that the Coyotes have acquired a sixth-round draft choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft from the New York Islanders in exchange for goaltender Al Montoya.

In 21 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) this season, Montoya has posted an 11-8-0 record with a 3.19 goals against average and .891 save percentage.

In 2008-09, Montoya played in five games with the Coyotes, posting a 3-1-0 record with a 2.08 goals against average.

Montoya was acquired from the New York Rangers on Feb. 26, 2008. He was drafted by the Rangers in the first round (sixth overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
