Coyotes send Turris to AHL, call up Yonkman

The Phoenix Coyotes assigned center Kyle Turris to the team's American Hockey League affiliate in San Antonio on Saturday.

Turris was the third overall pick in the 2007 draft. In 46 games with the Coyotes this season, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward has nine goals and nine assists. The 21-year-old has not scored a goal in the past six games. He played 63 games in Phoenix last season and had eight goals and 12 assists.

The Coyotes also announced Saturday that defenseman Nolan Yonkman was recalled from the Rampage.

In 12 games with the Coyotes this season, the 6-foot-6, 253-pound Yonkman has collected one assist and 24 penalty minutes. In 34 games with San Antonio, the 29-year-old registered three assists and 64 penalty minutes.
