IRVING, Texas -- For the second time in four picks, the Dallas Cowboys drafted a linebacker.
Dallas made Texas Tech weakside linebacker Will Smith the 23rd pick in the seventh round (238 overall).
"I thought I was going to go a little earlier," Smith said. "But I'm just happy to get a call any way. It didn't really matter at that point."
Smith (6-2, 231 pounds) started all 13 games during his senior season, recording 120 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He had a career-high 18 tackles during a 41-16 loss to the Longhorns.
"This is unreal," Smith said. "[The Cowboys] were my favorite childhood team, to get drafted by them, it's a blessing."
