Cowboys' Spencer still sidelined, called doubtful
IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Dallas Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer still hasn't returned from a left knee injury that kept him out all of training camp and is listed as doubtful for the season opener against the New York Giants.
Spencer missed the last full practice Friday before Sunday night's game. He aggravated an injury from offseason workouts in the pre-camp conditioning test and had arthroscopic surgery July 25. Spencer said he had swelling in the knee this week.
Assuming Spencer doesn't play, George Selvie will make his first career start after signing early in camp.
Backup defensive end Ben Bass injured a shoulder in practice this week and will miss the opener. Running back Lance Dunbar (sprained foot) and safety Danny McCray (hamstring) also are out.
