Cowboys sign DE Greg Hardy to one-year deal

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free-agent defensive end Greg Hardy, a deal that is worth up to $13.1 million but will, sources tell FOX Sports Southwest, only count $3.2 million against the Cowboys salary cap.

Hardy was the Panthers' franchise-tagged player a year ago after recording 15 sacks in 2013. He has collected 27 sacks in his past 32 games. At 6-foot-4 and 275 pounds, the 26-year-old will likely line up at right end for Dallas, which last year finished with just 28 sacks last season.

Hardy still faces possible discipline from the NFL stemming from domestic-violence allegations last summer. He missed 15 games in 2014 after being place on the commissioner's exempt list. The league can suspend Hardy for a portion of this season, sources indicating the Cowboys believe that might be for a four-game period.
