Jerry Jones said last week that the Dallas Cowboys weren't interested in signing Tim Tebow because they already had a backup quarterback they liked in Kyle Orton. The Cowboys owner and general manager said the only quarterback decision they were concerned with was at the No. 3 spot.
On Tuesday, the Cowboys announced who that No. 3 quarterback could be – former USC and Richmond signal caller Aaron Corp.
Corp, who signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft, started 11 games at Richmond in 2011, throwing for 2,682 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Corp began his collegiate career at Southern Cal in 2007 and redshirted. He was the team's third quarterback in 2008, appearing in five games, before winning the starting job in the spring of 2009. Corp cracked the top of his left fibula in 2009 fall camp and Matt Barkley won the starting job.
The 6-4, 215-pounder transferred to Richmond in 2010 and started the first five games before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
According to Rivals.com, Corp was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. He had offers from Arizona State, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon and Oregon State. Rivals.com ranked Corp the third-best dual-threat quarterback in his class, placing behind only Cam Newton and Tyrod Taylor. Former Texas A&M standout and current Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was ranked 23rd among dual-threat quarterbacks in that 2007 class.
