IRVING, Texas – Wide receiver is one of the toughest positions to make the transition from college to the pros. Many receivers don't start hitting their stride until their third season in the league.

So what's the big difference between playing college football and NFL football as a wide receiver? Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Tuesday that one of the toughest adjustments is being able to deal with press coverage.

"You watch college tape, the receivers aren't confronted with that situation as much," Garrett said. "They get free access. They run off the line of scrimmage unabated. You get to the NFL, Brandon Carr and Mo Claiborne are standing there pressing.

"It's a challenge for these guys … getting off the line of scrimmage and getting into their routes and being able to make plays down the field."

For Cowboys rookie Terrance Williams, improving in this area is important if he intends on being the team's No. 3 receiver. Fortunately for Williams, he has all of training camp to pick up some tips — from those two players that Garrett mentioned.
