ARLINGTON, Texas — Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray didn't have any excuses for his third-quarter fumble after Sunday night's 34-31 overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints.

The 24-year-old said he simply got twisted up and lost the ball, something he admitted was "very costly," especially considering how quickly an offense led by Drew Brees can put points on the scoreboard.

"When you're dealing with an offense like that a fumble should never happen," Murray said. "I gave them seven points right there. You can't turn the ball over in this league. I just got to take care of the ball.

"The ball shouldn't have come out. But it came out. You've got to move on."

The fumble came with a little over four minutes left in the third quarter and the score tied 17-17. The Saints recovered at the Cowboys' 5-yard-line and went ahead 24-17 three plays later.

Murray, who recorded his second lost fumble in as many games, was far from pleased with his performance. He carried four times for 23 yards in the first half and finished with 40 yards on 11 carries.

"It was a little devastating. Playing the way I played today, I didn't play my best game," Murray said. "But I'll play better next week."
