Put me in, coach. Just don't steal my watch while I'm out there.
According to police in Oregon City, Ore., Oregon City High football coach Kevin Strasser stole a student's watch and sold it to a pawn shop.
The student reported an Ice Time brand watch missing at the end of last year, and the watch was later found in a local pawn shop. Authorities were able to trace the watch back to Strasser, because pawn shops take down the name and driver's license of anyone who sells an item — you know, so they can track down people who sell stolen items.
Strasser is charged with first-degree theft and first-degree official misconduct. He was released on bail and faces up to five years in prison and $125,000 in fines.
The Oregon City School District announced he has been replaced in the classroom and on the field pending the outcome of the investigation.
Staff members at the pawn shop where Strasser allegedly sold the watch told KATU the Ice Time piece was sold for less than $100. Retail, Ice Time watches run from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
