Condoleezza Rice selected NCAA Gerald R. Ford Award winner
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Former U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice will receive the Gerald R. Ford Award.
The honor is presented annually by the NCAA to an individual who has demonstrated significant leadership by advocating for college sports.
Rice is a member of the College Football Playoff selection committee, which is responsible for picking the participants for the four-team playoff that determines major college football's national champion. It also helps set the matchups for other major bowl games.
She currently serves as the Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and previously served six years as the school's provost.
Rice will receive the award during next month's NCAA convention in San Antonio, Texas.
