Columbus Blue Jackets forward Nathan Horton undergoes successful shoulder surgery
COLUMBUS, OH ‐‐ Columbus Blue Jackets forward Nathan Horton underwent surgery today to repair a shoulder injury suffered during the 2013 Stanley Cup Final, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Jon Warner at the Boston Shoulder Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital.
“Nathan’s surgery went very well and he is expected to make a full recovery after completing his rehabilitation program,” said Kekalainen. “Since Nathan joined the Blue Jackets, our medical team from OhioHealth and team training staff have worked closely with Dr. Warner and will be actively engaged with Nathan throughout the rehabilitation process.”
Horton signed a seven‐year contract with the Blue Jackets on July 5. He has registered 198 goals and 204 assists for 402 points with 543 penalty minutes in 591 career NHL games with the Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins. In 2012‐13, he collected 13‐9‐22, 22 penalty minutes and was +1 in 43 games with the Bruins before tallying 7‐12‐19 and 14 penalty minutes in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
