Cold-shooting Mercury cannot cool Fever in loss
PHOENIX -- Tamika Catchings took sole possession of second place on the WNBA career rebounding list, and Lynetta Kizer scored 19 points to help the Indiana Fever beat the Phoenix Mercury 75-63 on Sunday night.
Catchings grabbed nine rebounds to reach 3,079 and move past Tina Thompson.
A jumper by Kizer sparked a 14-2 run that gave Indiana an 18-11 lead with 1:31 left in the first quarter and the Fever (14-9) led the rest of the way. A three-point play by Shavonte Zellous capped a 20-7 run to open the second half and gave Indiana its biggest lead, 59-36.
Briann January scored 12 points and Zellous added 11 for Indiana, which has won eight in a row.
Candice Dupree and Brittney Griner had 12 points apiece and Mistie Bass scored a season-high 10 for Phoenix (15-9).
The Mercury missed all 13 of their 3-point attempts.
