The daughter of Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak has died.
Alina Claire Kupchak, who was 15, died after a lengthy illness, the Lakers said in a statement.
"The family asks for and appreciates their privacy at this difficult time and would like to express their gratitude for everyone's love, support, thoughts and prayers."
Clippers coach Doc Rivers started his press conference before the Clippers' game against Atlanta on Monday with sympathies for the Kupchaks.
"I would like to send my condolences to the Kupchak family," Rivers said. "That's a hard one for everybody, losing a child - that would be very hard. On behalf of the Clippers and all of us, we just want to send out our blessings."
The Lakers were playing at Portland on Monday night.
