Clippers interested in Mavs' Odom?
There is a chance Lamar Odom's career could come full circle.
The 6-foot-10 forward, who began his career with the Clippers, is reportedly being pursued by the team. According to ESPN, the Clippers and Dallas Mavericks have talked about a trade that would send Odom back to Los Angeles, where he played from 1999-2003.
The Mavericks, who acquired Odom last season through a trade with the Lakers, have until Friday to decide whether they want to buy out the final year of his $2.4 million contract.
Odom struggled with the Mavericks, averaging career lows in points (6.6) and rebounds (4.2). In 2010-11 with the Lakers, he was named Sixth Man of the Year while averaging 14.4 points and 8.7 rebounds.
In April, Odom and the Mavericks decided to part ways, but the Mavericks still retain his rights.
The trade reportedly hinges on whether the Clippers could find a third team to take guard Mo Williams, who is expected to exercise his $8.5 million option with the Clips.
The Clippers are a guard-heavy team and could use Odom's size and girth. However, considering his recent down-tick in production, acquiring him could be a bit of a gamble.
Last year's struggles may be an aberration, though. In his 13-season career, Odom has averaged 14.2 points and 8.6 rebounds, helping the Lakers win championships in 2009 and 2010.
