Cleveland State's leading scorer is heading to Michigan State.
Multiple reports Friday say that Bryn Forbes has signed with Tom Izzo's program in his hometown of Lansing. Forbes won two state championships at Lansing Sexton High School while playing alongside Michigan State's Denzel Valentine.
The 6'3 Forbes averaged 15.6 points per game last season, hitting 42 percent of his three-point shots for Cleveland State. He played two seasons for the Vikings and will have two play with the Spartans.
Forbes will have to sit out the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules unless he gets a waiver, something the Detroit Free Press reported as possible.
Last month, Cleveland State coach Gary Waters told MLive.com that Forbes was looking to transfer for personal reasons. Forbes has a young son in Lansing.
"We want to thank Bryn for his contributions to the Cleveland State program," head coach Gary Waters said. "He has represented our program well and although it is disappointing to see him leave, we wish him the best."
Forbes is the second high-scoring transfer this week to sign with Michigan State. West Virginia shooting guard Eron Harris, who also has two years of eligibility remaining, committed to MSU on Monday and signed Wednesday.
