Cleveland State clobbered by Butler 79-56
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Andrew Smith snagged a double-double, scoring 22 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, as Butler cruised past Cleveland State 79-56 on Friday night.
Smith made 7 of 9 shots from the field and all eight of his free throw tries as the Bulldogs (11-5, 3-1 Horizon) bounced back from a Monday loss against Milwaukee, which was their first conference defeat since Feb. 18, 2009.
Butler got ahead quickly with a 13-0 run early in the first half and led by as many as 26 points late in the game.
Norris Cole grabbed a double-double for the Vikings (15-2, 4-1) with 10 rebounds and a game-high 26 points while Aaron Pogue chipped in with 11 points.
Matt Howard helped the Bulldogs by scoring 17 points. Ronald Nored added 13 points and Khyle Marshall scored 11 for Butler.
