Cincinnati coach makes trip to see Purdue
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- One day after clinching a share of the Big East title, Cincinnati coach Butch Jones visited Purdue.
A person with knowledge of the trip but who requested anonymity because the school is not providing updates of its coaching search told The Associated Press that Jones was in town Sunday.
He is considered one of this season's hottest coaching projects -- and is generally regarded as the Boilermakers' top target to replace Danny Hope. Hope was fired last Sunday after four mostly mediocre seasons with the Boilermakers.
Athletic director Morgan Burke took part in a short news conference Sunday evening regarding Purdue's selection to the Heart of Dallas Bowl , which will be played Jan. 1 Burke did not take questions about the coaching search.
