Cincinnati baseball shows solidarity with ailing Buckeye
The University of Cincinnati and Ohio State athletics have had some friction over the years, but this week the in-state rivals found a cause that can bring together anyone.
Zach Farmer, a freshman pitcher for the Buckeyes, was diagnosed with myeloid leukemia two weeks ago, and his teammates gathered Monday to register as potential bone marrow donors.
Tuesday the Bearcats decided to show solidarity by wearing patches with Farmer's No. 11 on them as the two teams face off on the Buckeyes' home field in Columbus for a non-league game.

Farmer, who was leading Ohio State with six victories when he received his diagnosis, has begun chemotherapy treatment while his team winds down the season.
Per BuckeyeSports.com, Ohio State is offering two chances for people to sign up for the donor registry on campus. The first will be Thursday at the Fawcett Center with the second set for Saturday when the Buckeyes host Northwestern at noon at Bill Davis Stadium.
