Chiefs sign free-agent cornerback Robinson
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Wednesday that the club has signed cornerback Dunta Robinson (pronounced DON-tay).
Robinson (5-10, 183) has played in 131 games (126 starts) in nine NFL seasons with the Houston Texans (2004-09) and Atlanta Falcons (2010-12). His career numbers include 580 tackles (490 solo), 5.5 sacks (-36.5 yards), 17 interceptions for 194 yards with one touchdown and 87 pass breakups. Robinson’s best statistical season came in 2004 as a rookie where he tallied 87 tackles (73 solo), 3.0 sacks (-26.0 yards), six interceptions for 146 yards and 19 pass breakups.
The Athens, Ga., native originally entered the NFL as a first-round draft pick (10th overall) of the Houston Texans in the 2004 NFL Draft. Robinson played safety at South Carolina before being moved to cornerback his junior year. He was a multi-sport athlete at Clarke Central High School in Athens, Ga.
