KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The postseason accolades continue to roll in for the Kansas City Chiefs.
On Thursday, the Pro Football Writers of America selected Chiefs general manager John Dorsey as its NFL Executive of the Year.
On Wednesday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid was selected AFC Coach of the Year by the 101 Committee.
Like Reid, Dorsey was in his first year with the Chiefs and orchestrated one of the best turnarounds in NFL history, turning a 2-14 team from a season ago into an 11-5 squad that garnered a playoff berth.
"I'm very humbled," Dorsey told The Kansas City Star. "It's a reflection of everybody's efforts. It's from Clark and the entire Hunt family for providing us with the resources. ... It's to the players for understanding what we're trying to achieve here, it's coach Reid's leadership, it's the entire coaching staff's ability to teach. ... Everybody is working together for that one goal ... and those people should be proud of this."
Dorsey was active in trades and free agent signings within weeks of being named the new general manager for the Chiefs last January.
Dorsey acquired quarterback Alex Smith, tight end Anthony Fasano, defensive end Mike DeVito, wideout Donnie Avery, cornerback Sean Smith, fullback Anthony Sherman and linebacker Akeem Jordan, among others.
Dorsey spent the previous 21 seasons in the Green Bay Packers' organization.
