Cheerleader sets handspring record
Behold: History.
That is Cuyahoga Falls (Ohio) Walsh Jesuit High cheerleader Marie Klein setting a Guinness world record for consecutive handsprings with 40.
"My mom was crying,” she told WalshJesuit.org. "It didn't feel real at times as I did it. I almost passed out, but I kept going. I am real excited to have the record. Now I want to break my own record."
Klein’s feat spanned 70 yards — from one 15-yard line to the other — in approximately 30 seconds and was performed during her school’s football game against Akron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary, which you may recognize as being LeBron James’ alma mater.
Representatives from Guinness were on hand to make sure the 4-foot-11 Klein’s up-and-unders were all on the up and up, and when it was over a dizzy Klein was downright delirious.
"It is so awesome I could do this with my family supporting me," Klein said. "My mom, Steph, my dad, Steve, and my brother, Stevie, all were here to watch."
