Brandon Carter did it all in his Texas high school career at powerhouse Euless Trinity. When he moves to the college ranks, he'll keep the black in his uniform, but he'll switch red for purple.
After giving a verbal commitment to Oklahoma in June, Carter figured to be bound for Norman this summer. Instead, the Scout.com four-star recruit switched his commitment Tuesday night from Oklahoma to TCU, according to reports from Rivals.com and The Dallas Morning News.
Carter lined up all over the field for the Trinity Trojans, appearing at quarterback, tailback, receiver, and punt returner.
The 5-foot-11 Carter became a Texas high school football star during his junior season, when he caught a game-winning touchdown pass in overtime of the 5A Division I State Championship Game to beat Austin Westlake 41-38. Carter nearly repeated the feat this year against Pearland, but a last-second pass sailed off his fingertips in a 28-24 loss.
During his senior year, Carter passed for 726 yards, rushed for 1,246 yards and caught passes for 381 yards. In total, he accounted for 23 Trinity touchdowns.
Carter's change of mind isn't the only good news for TCU. Defensive tackles Chuck Hunter (West Monroe, La.) and Jon Lewis (Spring, Texas/Klein Oak) gave verbal commitments to the Horned Frogs on Sunday. In addition, offensive lineman Carter Wall (Richmond, Texas/Travis) switched his commitment from SMU to TCU. It appears the good vibes from the Frogs' magical 2010 season have continued to linger around Fort Worth.
