The Carolina Panthers have an interesting schedule that is full of opportunities and should excite their optimistic fan base.

In the first half of the season, Carolina take son the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants, the always fascinating Dallas Cowboys, and they visit the historic Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins, a game that could match the last two Heisman Trophy winners at quarterback.

You can take a look at the first half of the schedule here.

The Panthers also play three division games over the first month of the season, and then spend a good bit of the schedule playing clubs not in the NFC South. The final part of the slate presents the Panthers with some challenging road games at places they rarely visit such as Kansas City and San Diego, and home games Peyton Manning and his new team, the Denver Broncos, and the Oakland Raiders.

The finale at New Orleans will be a tough one and by that time we will know if the franchise continues headed in the right direction. Carolina finished 6-10 a year ago after going 1-15 the season before Cam Newton arrived.

Here is a look at the Panthers’ 2012 schedule, broken into two parts. In this segment, we look at the second half of the schedule:
