TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona sophomore running back Ka’Deem Carey was named Tuesday to the Associated Press All-America team, making him a consensus All-American for the 2012 season.
Carey has been chosen as a first-team All-American on three -- The Sporting News, Walter Camp and AP -- of the four lists recognized by the NCAA, with one more recognized list to be announced by the Football Writers Association of America on Friday.
Carey leads the nation in rushing yards per game (146.42) and total yards from scrimmage (2,045). He is Arizona's 11th consensus All-American and the first since cornerback Antoine Cason in 2007.
Carey also ranks No. 2 nationally in total rushing yardage (1,757), No. 5 in all-purpose yards (2,061) and No. 8 in touchdowns (21).
He now sports seven first-team All-America honors this season: CBSSports.com, Athlon Sports, Scout.com/FOXSportsNEXT.com, The Sporting News, the Walter Camp Football Foundation, Lindy’s Sports and the Associated Press.
He'll be back in action Saturday as the Wildcats conclude their season by taking on Nevada at the Gildan New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque.
