Cardinals trim down roster to 44 players

The St. Louis Cardinals roster now stands at 44 players after the team announced three transactions following Monday’s 12-6 win over the Houston Astros.

Outfielder Todd Cunningham and catcher Gabriel Lino were re-assigned to minor league camp while infielder Breyvic Valera was optioned to Memphis (AAA).

The Cardinals' current group of 44 players includes 12 non-roster invitees.
