Cardinals promote McDonough to VP of player personnel

The Arizona Cardinals on Thursday promoted Terry McDonough to vice president of player personnel.

McDonough will take on the role vacated by Jason Licht, who was hired earlier in the week by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as general manager. The vice president of player personnel is considered the right-hand man to Cardinals GM Steve Keim.

Coincidentally, Terry's brother Ryan is the general manager of the Phoenix Suns. Their brother Sean is a play-by-play announcer for ESPN.

McDonough joined the Cardinals last year as a regional scout after spending the previous 10 years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including the last four seasons as the team's director of player of personnel. He had previously spent more than a decade with the Cleveland Browns and then the Baltimore Ravens after the organization relocated. He also served as personnel director for the Barcelona Dragons of the World League.
