ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Cardinals completed the final round of the MLB Draft on Saturday, selecting 41 players over three days. Of those, 30 were collegians and 11 were high school picks.
St. Louis’ first pick, 19th overall, was left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzales, a junior from Gonzaga University. Gonzales was 26-7 with a 2.34 ERA in his college career.
The club also made four selections with St. Louis connections, including Zach Loraine (RHP), a Fort Zumwalt High School graduate who attended Lindenwood University before transferring to Coker College in South Carolina; Luke Voit (C), a Lafayette High School graduate who played for Missouri State; Blake McKnight (RHP), from O’Fallon, Mo., who played for Evangel University in Springfield, Mo.; and Calvin Munson (RHP), from Francis Howell High School.
