Atlanta -- Injuries are as much a part of real life as they are of baseball. And the rehabilitation that follows can be just as grueling a pursuit and often lonelier, because there is little fanfare or public attention outside of immediate family and friends.
On Thursday afternoon, without much fanfare, the Atlanta Braves showed they care, making a stop on the Braves Caravan to raise the spirits of patients at the Shepherd Center for Spinal Cord Injuries, one of the most respected rehabilitation hospitals in the United States, treating an estimated 6,000 people a year.
