Canzoni captures Belmont feature

NEW YORK (AP) Canzoni surged in the stretch to edge J to the Croft by a head Thursday in the $77,000 allowance feature for 3-year-olds on the turf at Belmont Park.

The gray colt trained by Todd Pletcher got his second win in five starts. Ridden by Javier Castellano, Canzoni ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.27 on the firm course.

Canzoni paid $5.90, $3.20 and $3.80. J to the Croft returned $8.20 and $6, and Patent paid $4.80 to show.
